101000: BI Publisher: Reporting in PeopleTools 8.55 and Later

In PeopleTools 8.55, Oracle stopped supporting Crystal reports. As older versions of PeopleTools have also moved out of active support, the pressure to upgrade continues to build. One major factor that has held several clients back from upgrading to 8.55 or higher is that they can't bring along their custom Crystal reports. At HyperGen, we have helped several clients with major undertakings to convert all of their reports to BI Publisher, the current generally accepted format. While many aspects of building reports may be familiar to developers who have used Crystal in the past, BI Publisher has its own set of capabilities and quirks of which the user should be aware. Our team has put in the time to figure BI Publisher out, and I can personally attest that everything goes much faster if someone explains just a few basic concepts instead of starting from scratch.

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC. (SRNS) is the Management Contractor for the Department of Energy (DOE) and is located near Aiken, South Carolina. SRNS uses PeopleSoft 9.2 Image 26, with Tools 8.56 software to manage the Finance and Supply Chain Management business. This session will describe the approach that SRNS adopted for Homepages and Tiles. The methodology for gathering requirements will be discussed, along with the configuration approach. The session will provide some tips for easing this process, including the use of Application Data Sets (ADS).
