We will walk the audience through the process we began in 2013 to implement Self-Service, which stalled as quick as it started.  But in July of 2017 we embarked on the journey once again.  We have a lot of  functional and technical experience in house but there was so much to learn.   Many decisions had to be made; 2 Factor authentication or just userid and password,   Third party vendor for 2 factor or develop with Peopletools.  Text or Email authentication code, and how to force User Profile Setup and how do we manage higher volume support.   Working with the business Leadership we decide to secure the infrastructure and then begin rolling out more functions in 2018.  Upgrading our Peopletools to 8.56 and learning to work with Fluid pages, Tile creation, branding and new Peoplecode events.  Finally, the outcome our success, our lessons and hints for anyone else looking to implement Self-service outside their firewall.

Oracle has stated that the most significant reason for releasing 8.57 initially in only the Cloud is to build awareness of the benefits of running PeopleSoft applications in Oracle Cloud. Oracle is heavily investing in making PeopleSoft systems easier to manage and maintain in the Cloud.

Presented by George Danner, Business-Laboratory

We are at a unique period in the history of human technological progress, marked by our use of machines to do almost every task around us. To some, this is a frightening prospect, with machines threatening jobs and putting us at risk. To others, it is a thrilling opportunity to advance business and science and many other fields by leveraging the power of machine intelligence. In the end it does not matter if we love this future or not—it is simply inevitable.

George Danner has spent the last 5 years researching every angle of the automation lexicon, from building automated systems to using automation wisely in business. His book, The Executive's How-To Guide to Automation summarizes his findings from examining many different industries and their approaches to automation. Along the way George learned a few foundational principles of automation that he will share with the audience through the lens of actual case examples.
