QXW Session Recap: JD Edwards Roadmap - Exploring Applications And Tools Innovation, Part 1

Presented by:

Jon Vaughn, CEO of Quest International Users Group
Robert Monahan, VP of Product Management at Oracle
Gary Grieshaber, VP of Product Strategy at Oracle

Guidance for your Oracle adventure

JD Edwards is expanding its scope, and Quest’s community will support their users’ journey through this process every step of the way. Vaughn begins the presentation by describing the three pillars of Quest: Content, Networking and Advocacy. “Our goal is to help your community get the most from your enterprise resource planning (ERP).”

Quest Experience Week COLLABORATE change announcement

The Quest Experience Week presentations are chock full of informative, timely content that speaks to your unique pain points throughout the implementation process. If you were busy on JD Edwards Day (November 7) and couldn’t listen to the presentations, keep in mind they will be uploaded within the next couple weeks.

If you’re looking for a live event with even more networking, learning and fun, we’ll see you in Las Vegas at our Oracle COLLABORATE conference, COLLABORATE 18 next April! We’ve made it easier for users like you to experience COLLABORATE 2018 because there we’ve recently announced a limitless number of participants. For a flat rate, unlimited team members can come grow expand their knowledge of Oracle software at one of the premier Las Vegas resorts.

Longer, stronger support

Robert (Bob) Monahan started the presentation with an overview of the support policy updates for the newest Tools upgrades. Oracle has a new, unprecedented support policy that guarantees at least ten years of support for its users, while unlimited applications also show Oracle’s commitment to enhancing online applications. Coexistence within applications ensures a design that adds value to work with existing investments.

Monahan outlines what most customers want: Less disruptive upgrades with stronger ROI and longer support timelines — paired with Oracle’s longstanding commitment to product enhancements and new innovations.

Continuous innovation

Monahan highlights three main imperatives for keeping current.

If you only listen to one part of this article, make sure it’s this:

  • Modernize your software modules – First, install the 9.2 upgrade as soon as possible.
  • Continue to deliver and adopt – Don’t be afraid of change. With Continuous Adoption, you can develop a plan or methodology to keep up with the times.
  • Climb to the cloud – Move to the cloud as soon as possible because that’s where all the most exciting changes happen.

Oracle has started delivering product innovation in batches of smaller updates by delivering them on a more frequent basis. This new method of upgrading reduces costly, disruptive implementations and sets a tone that makes sense for your business pace.

Assets to staying current and personalization frameworks:

Oracle’s Object Usage Tracker, Impact Analysis and Change Assistant provide relevance in a rapidly changing digital economy.

Before the days of personalization framework changes, only developers could make the key changes within JD Edwards that supported everyday business functions. Oracle found an easier way and provided personalization frameworks such as the following:

  • Personalization forms
  • Orchestration studio
  • One View Reports
  • One View Watchlists
  • Page Composer
  • Advanced Query

Stay tuned next time as we hear from Gary Grieshaber and explore Object Tracking, Impact Analysis and other key JD Edwards module updates.
