Product Development: What Does JD Edwards Look Like In 2018?

JD Edwards was first built as a financial software company in the 1970s and has since added modules, accumulated impressive sales numbers and rapidly developed into the modern ERP workforce it is today.

JD Edwards has changed in important ways throughout the years, mostly regarding how often updates are released. In the past, JD Edwards would systematically provide a product update every three years or so. But 2018 brings a slight change of plans that means fewer updates to worry about. If you don’t believe us, take it from this JD Edwards FAQ: “There is no plan for any major 9.3 release in the future.” They also haven’t made a commitment to a new code branch for 9.3 and have no plan to unless a sudden need arises.

Also, this longer support horizon gives you a more continuous flow of product improvements, which means the users gain the power to decide which features and functions to apply. The updated release strategy means fewer, more impactful updates. As we’ve mentioned before on a JD Edwards blog, Oracle has extended their support features to ten years from now — 2028 — so that users can quickly call in with any issues.

JD Edwards is still positioned for a powerful future because it has been built to collaborate with any operating system and provides streamlined services that cleanly interface with cloud services. JD Edwards also holds digital transformation workshops and participates in key Quest networking events such as COLLABORATE and INFOCUS.

Four notable points of interest this year include the following:

  • User experience
  • Cloud
  • Digital tech
  • Core enterprise resource planning

Getting involved with these conferences, as well as finding the special interest groups that best benefit your team, keeps you updated with the latest JD Edwards capabilities in coming months and years.

With only two months remaining to receive Early Bird registration benefits and save up to 40 percent, make plans now to sign up for COLLABORATE 18, April 22-26. Your Early Bird registration deadline is March 8.
