PeopleSoft Talk with Marc Weintraub: PeopleSoft HCM featuring Robbin Velayedam

Christina Yue, Customer Learning Manager |

In this episode of PeopleSoft Talk, Robbin and Marc talk about PeopleSoft HCM, some of the latest deliverables, data privacy, future investment priorities, and more.

PeopleSoft and the World of HR

Many things are happening in the world of HR. People are looking at how they can become more productive as a group without having to take on all the extra responsibility and extra work that comes along with it. Compliance is always number one on everybody’s minds. All the regulatory and legislative changes that are happening are things that customers have to take full advantage of. HR is starting to become more of a strategic partner. They are being asked to provide data and reporting to leadership, so they can make decisions about expanding or contracting. They are also focusing on employee engagement. Employee engagement is all about being able to connect with people from the moment they walk in the door. People are wanting to feel connected to what the organization is doing and being able to be engaged with them from day one is a key part of that.

New PeopleSoft HCM Enhancements

PeopleSoft HCM has helped address what is happening in HR by making several functionality enhancements. PeopleSoft gets their ideas from the Idea Space and focus groups. One of the enhancements they are providing is Fluid capabilities. They’re not just updating the features. They’re providing frameworks that customers can extend, and they are also modernizing core components such as job data, personal data, position management benefits, and more.

Robbin touched on some noteworthy deliverables in HCM, such as Fluid Timesheet, Onboarding, Employee Snapshot, and Simplified Analytics. Fluid Timesheet simply takes the Classic way of entering timesheets and makes it Fluid. You can enter data and see your scheduled and actual time in real time. There’s quick fill functionality so that you don’t keep entering the same data over and over again.

Onboarding

Onboarding is something that all organizations struggle with. This is an Activity Guide-based function that guides the new hire step-by-step through what they need to do, such as administration activities, logistics, and HR related items. Employee Snapshot is like a “Talent Summary 2.0.” It’s a collection of core HR and talent data that a manager can go in and see. It’s all event-driven.

Simplified Analytics

Simplified Analytics has been available for about two years, but it remains a key feature in PeopleSoft HCM. They take pivot grids and marries them with Fluid. You can deploy those pivot grids and a Fluid component.
