Quest Experience Week—Quest’s annual, virtual conference—was another great chance for our community to hear from the Oracle PeopleSoft team about new developments within PeopleSoft. Robbin Velayedam, Senior Director of Product Strategy and Management for PeopleSoft HCM, gave an update on PeopleSoft HCM and presented the roadmap for upcoming features and developments. Here are some things we learned during Robbin’s presentation.
PeopleSoft HCM Highlights
On Boarding
The On Boarding Activity tile helps with the on-boarding process by providing a one-stop area for new hires to locate everything they need. Employers are able to create a welcome page for the new hire and provide them tasks to be completed while tracking the new hire’s process. The employer can customize the tasks and tiles within the On Boarding Activity tile. Some common activities/tasks are the documents tile where the new hire can locate the employee handbook, company directory tile so that the new hire can be familiar of other employees and the tax tile where new hires can fill out information for tax purposes. This was made available in Image 23 and enhanced to provide a manager view of the on boarding task for a new hire in Image 24.
Roadmap: PeopleSoft plans to do more with On Boarding, but would like to see customer feedback. There are ideas around providing more analytics so that administrators can see the progress of new hires and steps that are skipped or completed. There are also ideas for supporting other types of activity guides related to on-boarding such as off-boarding (when an employee leaves) and trans-boarding (when an employee moves from one part of an organization to another).
Employee Snapshot
This is the PeopleSoft way of showing all of the relevant data in HR for a manager to be able to see regarding their employee. Managers are able to see an employee’s performance rating, performance review information, last time they had a raise, current salary, education, responsibilities, etc.
Roadmap: PeopleSoft hopes to be able create an employee view and administrator view, as well as provide the ability to update data.
Total Rewards Statement
PeopleSoft has made the process of creating the statements more fluid. Employees are able to see all benefits from the company other than just the salary. This shows a total breakdown of the total rewards statement including compensation, allowances, health, retirement and training. Employees are also able to see statements from previous years.
Dotted Line Reporting
This is a relatively new feature. It enables organizations to represent a dotted line relationship between two people in an organization where one is a dotted line report to another. Dotted line relationships do not carry the same weight as direct line relationships but are valuable for creating lines of control. This can be set up through the system or through Fluid Company Directory, where you will manage dotted line reporting.
Roadmap for Company Directory
Users have requested the ability to export, print and search organization charts and display vacant positions.
Guided Self Service
This feature is Fluid-based and driven almost entirely from the focus groups. It guides managers through submitting transactions, compound transactions in one process and configurability by transaction. This has been enhanced quite a bit since Image 9 over the past several images.
Roadmap: PeopleSoft would like to have configurable attachments to allow the managers to upload an attachment.
Payroll – Component Lockdown
This allows administrators to lock down key self service and administrative pages during specific periods. Lockdown messages can be customized through text catalog or using your own text on the setup page, but still allow read only access. It has a flexible design to allow customers to add pages not delivered, but does require minor component PeopleCode modification. This is available now!
Other Updates and Roadmap
Future for Payroll For North America
One of the biggest features that is being worked on is the ability to use the Paysheet Update Process to pay terminated employees expenses and timesheets.
Future for Benefits Administration Open Enrollment
PeopleSoft plans to redesign Open Enrollment using Fluid to modernize the user experience. PeopleSoft will provide more configurability for context so the user has flexibility to add the information the user wants without having to customize or change code on those pages. This will be done in phases.
Roadmap for Time & Labor
PeopleSoft plans to enhance the design and provide a Fluid version of it. This would allow entry of elapsed or punch time. This will be delivered in phases.
Roadmap for Recruiter Homepage
The Launch Page will provide different tiles for the recruiter to manage applicants. The Launch Page will have tiles for job openings, applicants, approvals, interviews, recruiter summary and more.
