Robbin Velayedam, Senior Director of Product Management for PeopleSoft HCM, gave a presentation with an update on the HCM roadmap. PeopleSoft customer success stories are the foundation for creating a roadmap for HCM updates. This roadmap focuses on specific responsibilities of HR professionals including Benefits Open Enrollment, Timesheets, Payroll Work Centers, Compensation History, Onboarding, Company Directories, Privacy Frameworks, Year End Forms, and Employee Snapshots.
Although each of the areas featuring HCM updates has its own attributes, many of the best features are integral to each. Applications are Fluid now and scale gracefully from large screen devices such as laptops and desktops down to the reduced viewing space of tablets and smartphones. Fields and views are easily configurable. Moreover, access to monitoring and reviewing information is quick and easy.
Key Takeaways
PeopleSoft innovations make high-level goals for today’s HR achievable. With these innovations, HR will be able to achieve goals like:
- Enabling compliance with local, state and global personnel legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Empowering administrators to do jobs, like capturing and mining employee talent, more effectively, quickly, and with minimal errors.
- Creating strategic partnerships to maximize investment in licensed applications and to deploy features quickly in order to stay modern. A key part of this is avoiding, eliminating or removing customizations.
- Engaging and retaining employees.
A quick “best of” features list for some of the areas benefiting from the PeopleSoft HCM Update includes:
- Time and Labor is now Fluid. Information can be entered and approved from a variety of platforms in an infinite number of settings—not just at the desk in the office.
- Benefits Open Enrollment is also now Fluid. Users can add or delete steps within the enrollment process and customize guides to fit the needs of the organization.
- Organization Charts and Company Directories feature configurable fields and views. Charts are easily navigated and can be exported, downloaded and printed.
- The Fluid Work Center provides a one-stop solution for the payroll administrators with a checklist approach for monitoring payroll transactions and end-to-end coverage of business processes.
- Data Privacy Framework makes following practices for sensitive data easy. The update allows, for example, masking of driver’s license numbers and passport numbers. Options are provided for erasing data or capturing employee consent to use data.
Benefits of PeopleSoft Technology
With the PeopleSoft upgrade, HR managers can do parts of their work anywhere they like, whenever they like. The Fluid capabilities make it possible to work in different settings—a train, at home, in an office—from any device. Many of these Fluid capabilities are available for applications used by employees and prospective talent too.
With PeopleTools 8.57, users will find opportunities to create and save custom sorts for data. The data can then be downloaded from grids to Excel sheets.
Frustrating, endless searches are becoming part of the past after moving to PeopleTools 8.57. The new framework for searches has a multi-select feature to filter and find stipulated data successfully and quickly.
The path to leveraging PeopleSoft is well traveled, which makes it easy to follow and embrace the advantages of PeopleSoft technology. To put it in perspective, here are some statistics about the way people are utilizing PeopleSoft:
- More than 70 percent are using PeopleTools 8.55 or higher.
- More than 60 percent are using Fluid capabilities.
- More than 55 percent make it a priority to get current at least annually.
