A recent JD Edwards video covered how to leverage Orchestrator in order to transform how you use your EnterpriseOne system. The JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Orchestrator is a key component of your JD Edwards digital platform. Orchestrator changes how you use your JD Edwards EnterpriseOne system and can transform the EnterpriseOne system from a transaction-based system of records into an ERP that provides a dynamic reflection of your real-time business operations, an ERP that participates in your business, and an ERP with a pulse.
Benefits of Leveraging Orchestrator
Orchestrator enables your EnterpriseOne system to integrate with transformational technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud services, robotic process automation (RPA), mobile applications, chatbots, and alternative user interfaces.
By using the Orchestrator, you can significantly improve your operations through notifications with actionable links, simplified processes, automated system administration, scheduled processes, and no-code extensions.
Orchestrator facilitates significant collaboration between business analysts and technology experts. The intuitive Orchestrator Studio enables technical and non-technical users alike to create orchestrations that are as simple and complex as a solution demands. The key capabilities of the Orchestrator Studio include:
- Secured access to EnterpriseOne business data and applications
- Rule-based processing
- Integration with external REST services
- Messages and notifications with actionable links and attachments
- Custom scripting in Groovy for complex requirements
Leveraging Orchestrator Studio
With Tools 9.2.4, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne presents a redesigned Orchestrator Studio. The new Orchestrator Studio further simplifies the process of creating and maintaining orchestrations and notifications for users of all skill levels. The Orchestrator Studio homepage provides easy access to all of the Orchestrator components.
From the homepage, you can create and edit all of the building blocks, such as service requests, rules, and schedules that you need to create simple or complex orchestrations and notifications.
The Orchestrator Studio simplifies the process of finding and managing your components. You can arrange the orchestrations and their components in the group, and you can also sort them in ascending or descending order, by name, date, or product code, and for some components, by subtype.
The Orchestration Design page displays orchestrations in the graphical flow model, which is interactive and enables you to easily visualize the logical steps in an orchestration. This functionality is especially useful when there are rules with true and false branching.
You can configure a step by clicking the icons around the component. The icons give you easy access for choosing and editing your components, managing transformations, and error handling.
To make any changes to your orchestration, you can add and move the components within the orchestration flow in a couple of clicks.
You can run an orchestration by clicking the Start button and then selecting “Run Orchestration.” You can test your orchestration without signing into a separate orchestration client application.
The Run Orchestrations page displays the required inputs and outputs of an orchestration. You can choose either a JSON or an XML format for displaying the inputs and outputs.
The Orchestrator includes the Scheduler that brings an even higher level of automation to your JD Edwards system. The scheduled orchestrations and notifications can continuously monitor your system for events or conditions. You can create orchestrations to react to those conditions based on rules or create notifications for sending alerts to the right people who can immediately take appropriate action to address the situation.
The Scheduler user interface in the Orchestrator Studio simplifies the process of starting, stopping, and monitoring scheduled orchestrations and notifications.
The Orchestrator Studio provides both technical and non-technical users with an interface to develop and deploy orchestrations without the need for programming or development.
When you leverage Orchestrator, you can transform your EnterpriseOne system into an interactive, intelligent, and intuitive ERP.
