Oracle’s First Sponsored MySQL Conference
Oracle plans to hold it’s first sponsored MySQL conference in San Francisco on September 29th and 30, just prior to Oracle OpenWorld 2012 scheduled for the following week. Sarah Novotny, co-founder of Blue Gecko and chairperson of IOUG’s MySQL Council says,” …they have been collaborating with Oracle over the last year on ways to enrich the MySQL Community. Having a two-day, MySQL-focused event, in conjunction with this year’s Oracle OpenWorld, is a testament to Oracle’s commitment to listen to, support and foster the MySQL Community.”
MySQL Connect will include six tracks including:
- Performance and Scalability
- High Availability
- Cloud Computing
- Architecture and Design
- Database Administration
- Application Development
The conference will feature technical sessions, hands-on labs and birds of a feather (BOF) sessions delivered by MySQL community members, users, customers and MySQL engineers from Oracle.
The call for papers for MySQL Connect is now open and both MySQL users and community members are encouraged to submit their session proposals. Visit oracle.com/mysqlconnect to submit your paper or register for the conference.
New Development Milestone Release of MySQL 5.6
Oracle has also announced a new DM Release for MySQL 5.6. Available for download in the MySQL Developer Zone, the latest DMR provides new replication features which enhance availability with self-healing recovery, increased performance, and improved manageability Head over to dev.mysql.com to get the latest update.
