JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Notification and Orchestration messages enable you to improve your business efficiency by using proactive messages that are actionable. Through actionable messages, users can:

  • Take shortcuts to EnterpriseOne applications
  • Access links to external websites (URLs)
  • Access EnterpriseOne reports
  • Access BI Publisher reports
  • Call other orchestrations and notifications

Background on Notifications and Orchestrations

There are 30+ notifications delivered to JD Edwards users that can be configured to meet business needs, and it is easy to create additional, personalized notifications. Notifications can be used to alert users about exceptions, required action, general information, proactive measures, or simple reminders. They can be delivered to users through the bell within the JDE UI, a browser pop-up, an email, or an SMS text message. The quick, accessible, actionable messages that are delivered with notifications allow users to stay plugged into their organization and always be informed and proactive.

Orchestrator also helps users stay on top of their game through actionable messages. Orchestrations are like automated services that keep users informed about what is happening in their business. The Detect > Decide > Do paradigm that is ingrained in Orchestrator mimics the Alert > Analyze > Act paradigm within UX One that is designed for human users. It allows the technology to detect events, conditions, anomalies, etc. and send information about it to the human user to act upon. Both orchestrations and notifications can be set up within the Orchestrator Studio.

If you want to provide your notification subscribers access to an external delivery status website, give your message recipient the ability to kickoff an orchestration from within a message, or provide users access to reports within a message, you can create your notification and orchestration actionable messages to do it all.

How It Works

When users receive a notification message, they can access it from the Message Center or the notifications list. The new Message Center was delivered as part of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools release 9.2.3 as a way to give users more control over notification messages. It allows users to search, group, sort, and delete multiple messages at once. Details of the message will pop up on the right side of the screen when you click on it, which will look similar to an email system. It also provides a similar view and management style as the traditional Work Center messages. The Message Center can be accessed through the “Manage Notifications” menu or from the My Worklist page.

Whether users access the message through the Message Center or notifications list, they will be able to see a dropdown list filled with all of the available actions related to that message. These actions may include launching an application. In the video below, the user is able to easily access the View Equipment Details application. The user can also change the equipment status directly from the actionable message, which kicks off an orchestration behind the scenes to update the equipment status value to AV. The user can also access an external URL. In the video, the external URL takes the user to LearnJDE, where the user can learn more about how to create JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Notifications. The user also has access to view reports, like the Equipment Message Log. Depending on settings, the user might also be able to download the report.

When a message is delivered via email, all of the same options are available. All of the options are defined by whoever creates the notification or orchestration message within Orchestrator Studio. When you include links to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications, URLs, and orchestrations, your subscribers will have even more ways to act quickly when they receive messages. This will enable them to stay informed and act fast.
