As part of Quest Experience Week (QXW) 2019, Ward Quarles, Senior Director of Product Strategy and Marketing, presented how to make UX One an integral part of your JD Edwards user experience.

This session covered available opportunities, what to consider when planning the deployment, and how to get started with UX One. You’ll learn more about resources for reviewing the content, capabilities of the frameworks, how to manage user defined objects (UDOs), and what you need to set up in your environment to get started.

UX One Interested Parties

The interested parties involved in the use of UX One are the user, developer, and IT. All three parties have different expectations. Users want UI changes that never come, and after an upgrade, they see very few changes. UX One empowers users to take control and own their experience. By using UX One, users get more work done and are more efficient. Developers are ready for a new challenge and to use new tools. They are sick of tweaking JDE logic for integration issues. UX One allows developers to utilize Javascript skills and impress everyone with the expediency of building new apps. IT can’t wait for the big bang upgrade to be over and is glad that UI updates will get rolled out after five years of waiting. UX One allows IT to no longer be the bad guy holding back new technology adoption.

UX One gets you underway with digital transformation. Success will be easier to achieve if you install the pre-built content with Oracle. Empowered users get to adapt and add context to their user experience, and IT software engineers are freed up to focus on projects that require advanced skills.

IT really controls all that is possible. The continuous innovation enablers are going to excite IT. This tool kit includes User Defined Object Frameworks, Orchestrator Studio, Object Tracking, and Decustomizer Report. UX One includes personalizations and UDOs that are managed with the lifecycle tool. Personalizations can be achieved with Query Manager, One View, CafeOne, Watchlists, Composed Pages, Form Personalization, List View, Enterprise Search, Orchestrator Studio, Form Extension, and Notifications.

UX One Overview

Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne UX One is a user experience platform that includes more than 50 out-of-the-box roles that you can leverage to jumpstart the modernization of your user experience as you plan your upgrade to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2. UX One is able to abstract the presentation layer and eliminate customizations.

The EnterpriseOne Modern User Experience has 52 roles delivered with 9.2. It alerts users to the most important tasks, and the user experience is personalized to engage your business users. There are graphical displays to provide more intuitive insight, and there are easy drill-down capabilities that allow you to access underlying applications. There are also notifications within the applications.

Orchestrator is the gateway to digital transformation. Most of what occurs between the user experience and the database is driven by Orchestrator. If you are using UX One, then Orchestrator is the interface between those applications and the JD Edwards database.

Resources for Getting Started with UX One

UX One has content available to help you get started.  UX One landing pages, simplified forms, the Demo Data Pack, and the View Security Data Pack are four primary pieces that will assist you in getting started. These resources are provided to meet the needs of over 50 different roles.

There is some important information to take note of in regard to the UX One Data Packs.  The Demo Data Pack provides data that matches the delivered queries, so data will automatically display on the UX One landing pages. Do not install this into an environment that contains your test or business data because it will overwrite your data. Within the View Security Data Pack, there are over 50 pre-configured JD Edwards user roles and the associated UDO view security records. If you don’t install this, you must set up UDO view security for each of the UX One composed pages and associated UDOs to your own roles.

The UX One Roles User Guide answers the question pertaining to which of the delivered roles and UX One content is most useful to your business. The UDO Cross Reference answers the question of which UDOs belong to each role and how they are related. You can utilize the Change Assistant Query to obtain necessary E1 Applications, UDOs, and Data Packs.

There are several additional pieces of content available. Modernized user interfaces are built with ADF and provide Gantt charts, hierarchies, and calendars. In addition, out-of-the-box orchestrations are provided as models for designing and implementing your own. There are 70 pre-configured notifications that you can use as-is, or as models for your own. EnterpriseOne Search also provides examples you can use and learn from. The Notifications Cross Reference answers the question of which Notifications are available by product, and which UDOs belong to each notification.
