New features are continuously being released to help improve General Ledger functionality. Jian Wen, Oracle Product Strategy Director, spoke at RECONNECT 18 about what’s coming in the future for PeopleSoft General Ledger. Here’s what to expect moving forward:
Disposition of Entities
Some key features of this roadmap item include the ability to configure shutdown by processes, allow completion of in-progress transactions and support reporting and inquiry. This will support business growth and divestitures, drive efficiency and simplify complex processes.
Simplified Journal Entry
This configurable template will help you improve operational efficiency and reduce complexity for business users. You are given the option to display, default or update fields; you will be able to enable either a specific user or use role-based permissions to render it. Also, it also allows attachment uploads.
Financial Analytics
Financial Analytics will give you insight into financial performance as well as support departmental decisions. Some key features include major KPIs with Drilldown, real-time business data and personalized analytics.
Period End Efficiency
Some changes are being made to Period Close to make it more efficient. With this roadmap item, process journals and subledger data will not be posted. You will have visualization into open periods by business units and be able to mass update multiple business units’ open period. You can also control transaction processing by the cut-off date, business unit, user and journal source.
Mass Update Run Controls Framework
This roadmap item will establish a Fluid Mass Update process. It will allow you to update multiple rows within a Run Control as well as copy and easily submit it.
Establish Run Control Update Parameters
This will allow you to update desired values like fiscal year, from/to year, from/to date or from/to period, as of date, business unit process date, tree effective date or process frequency. It gives you a more flexible process to update these values.
Extended Visibility into Denied Journals
Some key benefits of this roadmap feature include visibility into approval rule application, better internal control and the ability to maintain an audit trail. You will be able to make previously denied reasons available for subsequent approval flow. You will also be able to track denials by a specific approver.
Approval for Unpost Journal
With this roadmap feature, you will be able to apply approval rules and track approval history. The benefits include visibility into approval rule application, better internal control and the ability to maintain an audit trail.
