Quest was pleased to speak with Wilker Costa, the IT manager at Refinaria Nacional de Sal S.A., also known in its native Brazil as Sal Cisne. Wilker’s team has applied updates and implemented JD Edwards IoT Orchestrator, learning valuable lessons along the way.
A brief intro to Sal Cisne
Sal Cisne produces around 240 thousand tons of salt per year for human consumption, serving 3,000 customers in Latin America in retail and industry channels.
Their IT team is dispersed across multiple operations cells, so they needed an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that enables collaboration from various locations. They started their ERP project in early 2013. At that time, systems were developed in house with no centralized management integration. They set a goal to adopt one new system and improve the business management of integrated data for their operations. Sal Cisne uses the 9.1.5 version application and the 9.2.1.4 version tools., and this year, they aim to change the servers and update all the systems to the latest version.
Sal Cisne implemented JD Edwards IoT Orchestrator to control their production line (schedule product manufacturing, enable product traceability, etc.) and provide online data capture. IoT Orchestrator collaborates with JD Edwards ERP across several manufacturing line processes, so the Orchestrator implementation made sense.
