How to Implement Manager Self Service & Delegation

This topic explains how a manager can control employee data processing according to their need. In my organization there are large volume of employee’s job data change request comes in on daily basis e.g (compensation change, department change, account distribution change etc.). Being a leading health care company we invest lot of dollars in research and the grants are distributed and changed frequently between departments. Until last year we have been using approval via email and manager were not in control to initiate the transactions.The main difficulty was to manage the grant approval process and allocating the write percentage to the departments. We used the delivered PeopleSoft frame work to build our own MSS transaction (Account Code Distribution) for Research Managers. We also implemented all the delivered transactions along with complex approval process for all managers. Along the way we learned and explored how to configure approval workflow engine and guided self service.
 
Objective 1: Our main objective was to give managers the fluid user interface to manage the team, get a key information related to job and compensation and initiate the transactions by themselves including email notification at every stage of approval & denial.
 
Objective 2: Providing a fluid user interface for managers to assign proxy to initiate and approve the transactions on their behalf. This also helped HRIS in having more control on transaction configuration without involving IS.
 
Objective 3: Building the custom transaction using the delivered framework (Approval workflow engine, Guided self service) with minimal customization.
