Are We Done Yet: Strategies For Upgrading to PeopleTools 8.55 and Fluid User Interface
It is 4:30 p.m. on a Friday and the servers for the PeopleSoft Portal and applications are down for the weekend PeopleTools 8.55 and Fluid User Interface upgrade. What’s next? Who needs to be notified? When is the change assistant being run? When will the change assistant be done? What manual steps does the technical team need to complete to set up the environment? Can functional validation start now? What are we are supposed to be validating? Are we done yet?
These are the questions often heard before and during PeopleSoft outages and upgrades. To address the overall strategy of a major deployment and the questions surrounding an upgrade, Hennepin County has developed a custom list application in Microsoft SharePoint 2013 to manage, track and ensure successful deployments of PeopleTools 8.55, Oracle database 12.2 and version 9.2 PeopleSoft upgrades across multiple applications.
With a focus on sharing tools and techniques that attendees can apply at their own institution, this session will detail how Hennepin County organized and managed to a deployment plan that empowered team members to share, collaborate and update the whole team on the progress in real-time during weekend deployment. The presentation will also provide a live demonstration on the steps for creating a deployment plan and real-time notifications.
