How to Configure and Customize Your System
A Free, Virtual Event For PeopleSoft Users

PeopleSoft Week: How to Configure and Customize Your System

PeopleSoft has always enabled customers to tailor the system to meet their unique requirements. Traditional approaches to customization are expensive to create and maintain, and make it difficult to take delivered updates and new innovations. And yet, today, customers and end users expect a more personalized and productive experience than ever before.

PeopleSoft has introduced many ways to eliminate invasive customizations, configure the system to your needs, and allow your end users to personalize their experience. Using these capabilities, your system can take full advantage of delivered capabilities, be tailored to your unique requirements, provide the experience your end users expect, and position you to quickly adopt new features and innovations when they are delivered. Join us for PeopleSoft Week: How to Configure and Customize Your System in this week long educational opportunity.

Event Mapping and Drop Zones: Keys to Isolating Customizations

Presented by Matthew Haavisto
Oracle

Abstract:

Two of the most important features for isolating customizations in PeopleSoft are Event Mapping and Drop Zones. Event Mapping lets you inject custom code, while Drop Zones permit you to add fields and other elements to pages—all without impacting delivered code. We will also cover a new feature that lets you plug in custom code in App Engine programs without impact. Together these features allow you to retain your most important customizations while greatly streamlining uptake of new images and significantly reduce life cycle cost and effort.

Utilizing Related Content to Convert Customizations to Configurations in a PUM Application Update

Presented by Bennett Walker
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center

Abstract:

BIDMC utilized the Related Content Framework and the Page & Field Configurator to eliminate customizations to delivered PeopleCode events and pages during our most recent HCM patching project for PeopleTools 8.55 to 8.56 and PUM Image 16 to Image 26. We were able to convert ten separate customizations to delivered objects into delivered configurations, which removes them from future compare reports and retrofits. These tools will be used for every future PUM Image application to provide continuous reduction of customization impact, with the end goal being elimination of custom code on delivered objects.

Expanding access to PeopleSoft and enabling mobility is a common strategy for boosting user engagement. To mitigate these risks, it’s essential that organizations understand vulnerable areas of PeopleSoft, how to strengthen authentication, limit the unnecessary exposure of data, and gain deeper insights into data access information.

Join us as we discuss the most common use cases that lead to data breaches and the strategies that organizations are using to strengthen data security.

Selecting Your Way to the Future: King County’s Integrated Release Set and Customization Management

Presented by Hannah Gacey & Mike Betschart
King County

Abstract:

In 2015 King County adopted a Release Set delivery strategy to align HCM system updates with PeopleSoft Update Manager Image releases. This strategy has been refined over the years to keep King County current with the latest Images available and give users access to the latest features and functionality. Adopting a continuous release cycle comes at a cost with repetitive analysis, testing and implementation. We will discuss the King County approach to Images, highlighting how King County is creating a culture of innovation from analysis and actively managing customizations by integrated Event Mapping to using testing automation to implementing Release Sets every 6-8 weeks.
